Card funds a PayPal balance and the balance outlives the card — that asymmetry is the whole CC to PayPal game. Card-network reversals still bite (unauthorized-use claims run through Visa/MC even when PayPal balance moved on), so the flow lives or dies on funding windows, name matching, and withdrawal discipline. Full pipeline below.

FLOW PATH (NO FLUFF)

Card pushes value into PayPal (as payment funding or direct top-up where available), balance sits, withdrawal pulls it to bank. The gap between "card reversed" and "balance already gone to bank" is the race. Three legs: funding, hold, withdrawal. Money at bank after card reversal = the reversal has nothing left to grab — but PayPal WILL debit your balance negative, and negative balances get sent to collections.

LEG 1 — FUNDING ROUTES

  • Add-and-pay: link card, pay a merchant invoice or F&F send funded by that card — the 3% credit-card fee is sender-side, standard grammar.
  • Card as checkout payment: merchant-side receives where you also control payout — G&S receives with your own card cycle (see risks below).
  • 2-step balance build: card funds → balance → onward movement, instead of card-to-bank direct. Each hop buys settlement time.
  • 3DS reality check: card-not-present + PayPal = frequent 3DS frictionless pass on clean BINs, hard challenge on others. Challenge without holder = dead funding.
  • Non-VBV angle: no-3DS BINs skip the challenge entirely at PayPal's checkout flow — funding processes without holder interaction. Still subject to AVS/CVV checks and PayPal's internal score.

LEG 2 — THE HOLD (WHERE THE RACE RUNS)

  • Card-funded receives often pend while PayPal waits for settlement visibility (1–3 days typical).
  • Balance from card funding: withdrawable quickly on aged accounts — WHICH is exactly why funding-side reversals matter. New account + card funding + instant bank pull = limitation on day one.
  • PayPal's chargeback handling: card issuer reverses → PayPal debits balance → if balance empty, account negative → closure + collection. Float (20%+ parked) is what keeps accounts alive through soft reversals.
  • Verification (SSN + card + bank) raises withdrawal limits AND makes limitation less likely for pattern-matching amounts.

LEG 3 — WITHDRAWAL

DEATH CONDITIONS

  • Funding card chargeback after balance withdrawn to bank — balance goes negative, account closes, collections escalates. Float prevents negatives, not closures.
  • Name mismatch: cardholder name vs PayPal KYC name vs bank name — funding declines at gate or flags instantly. One identity.
  • Unverified account + high card-funded volume = limitation before you ever withdraw. Verify BEFORE volume.
  • Same device/IP doing funding from multiple cards — payment graph screams card testing; PayPal kills the account cluster.
  • Withdrawal same-minute as funding settle — velocity mismatch. Sit hours, then pull.
  • G&S receive + own-card funding of refunds: closed-loop structuring patterns are in their model too.

WORKING SEQUENCE

Bash:
aged verified PayPal (SSN + bank + card on file, months of small activity)
-> fund via card (F&F invoice or checkout), modest size, 3DS frictionless
  -> sit 12-24h after settle
-> standard ACH pull to matched-name bank (free, 1-3 days)
-> float: keep 20% of pulled amount accessible in case of late reversal
-> second pull cycle only after first clears fully

One name, verified before volume, float parked, pull patient — the card funds the balance, the balance outlives the card by days, and those days are exactly where the profit sits. Reversal lands on float, not on a negative.

— RELATED GUIDES —

Verified before volume, float parked, ACH patient — funding window and withdrawal window both respected. The card dies eventually; the balance already left through the bank leg while it was still breathing.
